Teaching and needle arts have always been part of my life. I’ve explored the expressive possibilities of art quilting—working in series, layering textures, and blending fabric with paint, metal, and found objects. My work tells stories, stirs emotion, and often surprises me.
Artist Statement
I frequently work in series and find that to be a wonderful way to experiment, using materials on a small scale to see where they’ll lead. Sometimes these small pieces become part of a larger quilt, or they might stand on their own. Working in series allows me the freedom to make mistakes because I know I’ll have another opportunity to make it right, and I find great satisfaction in watching each piece improve and become more focused. My love of texture and fiber is the driving force of my work. I especially enjoy making art that tells a story, reflects emotions and connects with the viewer on a personal level.
Teaching and Community
I am a member of the Contemporary Quilt and Fiber Artists guild of Cincinnati and have served on the Board in numerous capacities, including as president. The opportunity to work with a group of like-minded artists has been invaluable. I have a passion for teaching quilting, both art and traditional styles across the U.S. and internationally. I enjoy helping others find their creative voice through fabric and thread.
